Ingenious talks at Ignite Dublin 6

From everyone’s favourite invention, to DIY synthetic biology… from weighing the earth, to hacking at the kitchen table… just some of the talks at the Science Gallery this Thursday, February 10 for the next Ignite Dublin event.

Our favourite invention!

We’re really looking forward to hearing Sugru Woman‘, Jane ní Dhulchaointigh talking about her ingenious invention, the silicon putty that allows you to “hack things better”.  And we’re big fans of the stuff, as anyyone who got a pack from us in their Christmas stocking will confirm.

We will also be ‘igniting’ — with a talk about “The stones beneath your feet”.  So if you are at all of a curious mind (and we know you are!) do get along.  You’ll get an evening of nearly 20  illustrated talks (five minutes each, 20 slides), and promising something for everyone.  But be quick — tickets are selling fast!

Other ingenious news

We’ll be launching our new audio guided tours and smart phone apps of the National Botanic Gardens soon, and we’re really excited about this, as it’s our first app (and the first of many, we hope).  We will also be launching our new audio guided tour of the Royal Irish Academy and its historic home on Dawson Street. Watch this space for news of these great new free guided tours for Dublin.

Win a tour!

We are giving away a free copy of our Dublin Rocks walking tour to one lucky person — you just have to be one of the first 100 people to LIKE our Facebook page, to be in with a chance to win. What’s not to like!
